For our October meeting, we ate crêpes and accomplished two writing tasks.
The main writing task was fairly straightforward, to write an account of a day-to-day task or event in someone else’s shoes. There were four rules: the character had to be male; from a different country; a different age; and it had to be written in the first person. Each of us wrote a quick character profile, we mixed them up then redistributed them at random. We had ten minutes for this task.
We ended the evening with a quick exercise. Three themes: history, glass, and dark, and were given a minute in which to write something inspired by each. Some of us managed poems, others half-sentences.
